TSPA is a research partner to the Federal Institute for Research on Building, Urban Affairs and Spatial Development (BBSR) in the German-American Cities network.

TSPA is participating as part of the ExWoSt project, which we carried out on behalf of the Federal Institute for Research on Building, Urban Affairs, and Spatial Development (BBSR). This initiative is linked to the German-U.S. network within the Dialogues for Urban Change (D4UC) project, from the Federal Ministry for Housing, Urban Development, and Building (BMWSB) and implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ). The focus of this network is on

density, mixed-use, and affordable housing

Each year the partners (including the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) (Cindy Campbell) and cities in the network - Atlanta, Berlin, Frankfurt, Munich, Seattle, St. Louis, gather in person to talk about approaches, challenges, and successes in their contexts. This year the exchange will take place in Munich, thank you to Arne Lorz Sehen, Anne Hogeback, Klaus Illigmann, and the Munich team for hosting!

This is important for tailoring our ongoing research to reflect changes in the dialogue.

The scope of our research is ever-evolving, a reality for practice-based research. This is not just about examining the past or the current situation; it is a more ambitious endeavor. How can we do things differently? How can we find better solutions and more innovative tools?

Stay tuned for more updates from Bella and Thomas on site!
