Approach
Going Beyond Spatial
We cannot predict the future. To nonetheless make robust plans for the decades ahead requires an inspiring and clear vision with built-in flexibility and resilience, which can strategically adapt to changing circumstances while maintaining purpose and direction.
As an international urban planning and design firm, we design sustainable urban systems for a changing world. Our priorities are the efficient use of resources, the preservation of biodiversity and an excellent quality of life for all generations.
Themes That Drive Our Work
Climate change, rapid urban growth of cities in developing economies, as well as the transformation of urban life in post-industrial societies demands that we plan with foresight and purpose. To tackle complex urban matters, current issues and, future problems, systemic thinking is key.
These six focus areas are the ones we believe offer the greatest potential for changing our cities for the better.
Our Process Adapts to Any Project
We believe in structured creativity: in our planning and design process, we combine empirical analysis and data with the experience and ideas of our team. Our planning and design decisions are based on a thorough analysis of the challenges, objectives, conditions and context, which goes beyond the spatial aspect and includes a comprehensive economic, social, environmental and regulatory assessment. This combination of factors results in solutions that are not only realistic but also innovative.
From there, we develop design scenarios, that we test against the project goals. The most promising solutions are then refined together with stakeholders and experts in an iterative process.
At TSPA, we use strategic thinking based on a thorough understanding of urban development trends to develop incremental transformation to achieve both quick wins and long term sustainability.
